60th Annual Carnival - March 27, 2010
2009 marked our 60th Anniversary skating season, with our 60th Anniversary Carnival taking place on Saturday, March 27, 2010; appropriately themed: "Memories On Ice - Now & Then".
Don Jackson, World Champion and Olympic medalist, performed 2 numbers. At the age of 70 he is still an active skater, coach and director at the Minto Skating Club in
The Ice Men, a comedic precision skating team, performed “Spaghetti Western“. These men skate for Breast Cancer Research and all proceeds they receive are donated to this worthy cause.
Alumni Club skaters performed, as well as our Current Club skaters, and put on a great show for the audience.
Major Michelle Mendes: We had a very special skating duet, Taryn Ito-Keystone and Christina Harper-McCormick, who performed a Tribute Skate to their close friend, former Cobourg FSC skater and soldier, Major Michelle Mendes. Michelle's family was also presented with a signed photograph from all Club skaters, Executive, Alumni and Don Jackson.
